The solitaire that keeps you at the table longer. No install, no account โ pick one, two or four suits and start dealing.
How to play on this page
- Press START. An unfinished game reopens where you left it, and the suit switch is set to match the saved deck automatically.
- The bar above the board shows time, moves and deal number, plus Sets 0/8 (runs removed so far), Deals left 5 (how many times the stock can still be dealt) and the 1 / 2 / 4 suits switch. Changing the suit count rebuilds the deck, so a new deal starts immediately.
- Tap a card and it moves to the best target โ a same-suit column first, then any column with the right rank, then an empty column. Drag to pick the destination yourself. Tap the stock in the top right to deal one card onto each of the ten columns; if any column is empty you get a reminder instead.
- Undo in the toolbar is unlimited and Hint gives five per deal. Auto-finish chains every same-suit join it can find and removes completed runs as they form. New deal, Today's deal and the #๏ธโฃ deal number button (1โ99999) sit alongside.
- Remove all eight sets and the win screen shows your time and moves. Enter a nickname (12 characters max) to submit, share the result as a link, or play again.
How Spider Solitaire works
Spider uses two decks, 104 cards. Fifty-four of them are dealt into ten columns โ six cards each in the first four columns, five in the rest โ and only the bottom card of each column starts face up. The other fifty sit in the stock; every tap deals one new card onto every column. You may place a card on any card one rank higher regardless of suit (an eight of hearts onto a nine of spades is legal), but you can only pick up several cards at once when they form a same-suit descending run. Whenever a full King-to-Ace run of one suit gathers in a column it is removed automatically and stacked in the completed row at the top. Clear all eight sets and you win. Empty columns accept any card, but there is a catch: you cannot deal from the stock while any column is empty. Deciding when to spend an empty column and when to save it is the whole game.
One suit, two suits, four suits
Difficulty is set by how many suits make up the deck. One suit means all 104 cards are spades, so only the numbers matter โ the friendliest version and the best way to learn. Two suits mixes four sets of spades with four of hearts, so runs that look tidy often cannot be lifted as a group. Four suits is traditional Spider, with two sets of every suit; simply assembling a same-suit run becomes the challenge. Changing the difficulty rebuilds the deck, so a fresh deal starts.
Five tips that actually help
- Prefer same-suit joins. A mixed pile cannot be moved as a unit later. When two moves look equal, take the one that keeps the suit clean.
- Flipping a face-down card is worth the most. Fewer hidden cards means more options, so favour the move that turns one over.
- Fill empty columns before you deal. The stock is locked while a column is empty โ tidy up first, then deal.
- Put Kings in empty columns. Nothing stacks on a King, so a King sitting on another column effectively kills it.
- Undo is unlimited. Back out of a bad line, or replay the same deal number and try a different order.
Daily deal and deal numbers
Every layout has a number. The daily deal comes from the date, so everyone gets the same cards that day and you can race a friend on identical odds. Type any deal number to summon that exact layout again โ the best way to study a hand you lost. Finish a game and your time joins the leaderboard, and you can share it as a link.
Frequently asked questions
Which move does the hint suggest?
You get five hints per deal, and they follow a priority. A same-suit join that completes a thirteen-card run comes first, then any same-suit join; moves that flip a face-down card or empty a column earn a bonus, while mixed-suit joins and moves into an empty column rank lower. If no column move exists and no column is empty, the hint points at the stock.
Auto-finish did nothing. Why?
Auto-finish only performs same-suit joins and never uses empty columns. If the only remaining moves cross suits, or the board is already tidy, it reports "Not ready to auto-finish yet". Ask for a hint or deal from the stock instead.
How many times can I deal from the stock?
Five โ the fifty stock cards go out ten at a time, and "Deals left" counts them down. If a deal completes a run, that run is removed on the spot, and because a deal counts as a move it can be undone like any other.
What happens if I close the tab mid-game?
Every move is saved in your browser, so the next START reopens the same deal with your time and moves intact. The save is cleared when you win or start a new deal.
How is the leaderboard ranked?
By solve time in seconds, fastest first, top ten worldwide, with nothing more than a nickname required. One-, two- and four-suit results share one table, so one suit is the route to a fast time โ and a four-suit clear is its own reward. Hints and undo carry no penalty.
